When Robert Redford created the Sundance Film Festival in 1978, it’s safe to say that he didn’t realize the greatest event wouldn’t occur until 2012.
If the Oscars are the “1%” of Awards Shows, only honoring those old money, fancy-shmancy films that were born to win awards, the Golden Globes are surely the awards show of the proletariat, letting popular but less stuffy fare like Bridesmaids and television hits like Modern Family get their moments in the sun. And if we’ve learned one thing from having covered the Globes for the last few years, it’s that more nominees definitely equals more parties.
