I don’t think it’s unfair to say that L.A. is far, far different from New Orleans. While we’re still a relatively young city that celebrates the new, the stylish, and the trendy, N’Awlins is a center of revered traditions and timeless appeal, where customs are passed down through generations, and the city has a soul of its own. But these differing sets of ideals don’t conflict as much as you might think once you realize just how much both towns love a great party, and it was in that spirit of festivity that Glow Ultra Lounge, MAX Entertainment and Berry Bly Productions threw down with their Mardi Gras extravaganza on Saturday. I think New Orleans might be proud.

Lord knows there were enough parties, pre- and post-Grammy events and general foolishness around to compete for your attention over the weekend. But if you scored an invite to the penthouse of the Roosevelt for Modular + Puma’s Pre Grammy Party, let’s hope you ditched whatever else you had going on. If not, you missed out on the chill vibes (a rarity of awards season events awards season in general) of the very intimate and stylish party thrown in honor of Cut Copy’s Grammy nomination, plus a surprise guest DJ set by the group, which just so happens to be one of our favorite bands. Oh, and some quality open bar situations.

Valentine’s Day is over, so now we can all officially stop tweeting anti-sentimental quotes from Oscar Wilde and feeling bad about drinking alone. If you didn’t have an evening filled with rose petals and Pizza Hut extravagances, don’t feel bad. Loads of famous people were also not doing fancy Hallmark things. Instead, they checked out Tyler Perry’s new flick, congratulated Matt Groening on his Hollywood Walk of Fame star, and watched the Lakers win and/or Kobe and Vanessa gettin’ it on.
